Raindrop Technique
Imagine the sensation of sinking into a deep and blissful state of rest, as someone does the ancient Tibetan version of reflexology on your feet. As you slowly (even reluctantly) come back to your body and roll over, you experience the gentle splashes as therapeutic grade essential oils are applied up your spine and to your tired muscles. These oils are then “feathered in” using a spine-feathering technique inspired by the Native Americans, combined with massage. You can’t get more pampered than this!
Vitaflex Technique
VitaFlex Technique is a specialized form of hand and foot massage. It is a gentle yet powerful technique that derives its name from “Vitality through the Reflexes”. VitaFlex Technique is similar to Reflexology in that they both use the concept that the feet and hands map the entire body.

Canine Bowen Therapy
Canine Bowen Therapy is a unique and systematic manual therapy; gentle rolling movement over soft tissue relax and restore balance within the body. The Canine Bowen Technique is powerfully therapeutic; yet incredibly gentle. This modality works on underlying tissue, helping to improve biomechanics, reducing symptoms of many physiological conditions and improving general wellness.
The Canine Bowen technique is generally safe and can be used both as a therapeutic treatment and for general maintenance to help keep your dog’s body in optimal condition. Most dogs tolerate Bowen therapy well, and it can aid in reducing symptoms of various physical dysfunctions. However, it’s important to note that Bowen therapy is complementary care; it should work alongside, not replace, the guidance of your veterinarian or canine physiotherapist.
Dogs with behavioral or emotional issues, such as anxiety or nervousness, may also benefit from a treatment plan that includes Whole Energy Body Balance therapy, which helps to promote emotional and physical well-being.
Contraindications:
- Dogs with acute injuries should have a diagnosis from their veterinarian before starting Bowen therapy.
- Open wounds must be covered, and treatment should not occur in the affected area until it has fully healed.
For Pet Dogs: Maintaining your dog’s overall well-being—both physical and emotional—is key to their health. Treatments can be scheduled regularly or as needed, depending on the dog’s condition. Whether dealing with acute or chronic pain, dysfunction, or stress, Bowen therapy can offer great benefits.
For Sport and Working Dogs: Keeping your working or sporting dog in peak physical shape is essential. Bowen therapy can be used before events, after events, and throughout the season. When combined with tools like thermal imaging, Bowen therapy helps ensure your dog stays in top form.
For Senior Dogs: Older dogs often respond positively to Bowen therapy, especially as they age and become less mobile. With aging, connective tissues can become dehydrated and sticky, leading to pain and restricted movement. Bowen therapy helps relieve these issues and improve their mobility.
For Post-Operative and Rehabilitation: Bowen therapy is beneficial for dogs recovering from surgery or injury. It aids in reducing recovery time, calming the nervous system, improving circulation, and supporting the body’s natural healing processes.
How Often Should My Dog Receive Bowen Therapy?
The frequency of Bowen therapy for your dog depends on their individual health and your treatment goals. Initially, treatment often consists of two sessions spaced 7-10 days apart.
- Chronic Conditions: Dogs with chronic issues may require weekly sessions, potentially for 6-8 treatments, until the condition improves. Afterward, maintenance sessions can help keep the condition in check.
- Acute Injuries: Acute injuries are treated differently. Your therapist will advise on an appropriate treatment plan after the second session.
- Maintenance: For general wellness, most owners schedule maintenance treatments every 6 to 8 weeks after the initial sessions.
Conditions Bowen Therapy Can Address:
- Muscle spasms and strains (both recent and long-term)
- Joint pain and arthritis
- Performance improvement (particularly for show, agility, and working dogs)
- Relief from degenerative conditions
- Post-surgery recovery
- Hip and elbow dysplasia, back issues
- Mobility issues in elderly dogs
- Digestive concerns
What to Expect from Your Bowen Therapist
A typical session includes the following steps:
- Initial Consultation: You’ll complete a form outlining your dog’s general health and consent for treatment.
- Gentle Manipulation: The therapist performs light movements, such as drawing the skin slack, gently pressing on muscles or tendons, and rolling over them. This stimulates the receptors in the body.
- Processing Time: The therapist pauses between moves to give the body time to process the information sent to the brain.
- Repeat Movements: This process continues throughout the session.
- Post-Treatment: After the session, it’s important for your dog to drink plenty of water and walk around to help integrate the changes.
Post-Treatment Care:
- Walks: Encourage your dog to move around every half hour to help the body integrate the changes.
- Water: Ensure your dog drinks plenty of water, sipping rather than gulping. This helps flush out toxins activated during the treatment.
- Rest: The body will continue to process the changes for up to 10 days after the treatment.
By following these steps, your dog can experience the maximum benefits of Bowen therapy.
